Fly Fishing is one of the great ways to enjoy the outdoors. There is nothing better than being in or next to a cold running river, just you and nature. When going on a fly fishing trip of this type, it is important to be prepared with the proper gear and equipment.
First, you need to have a first aid kit. Although you don’t always think something is going to go wrong, it can very quickly happen. Having the supplies that you need in a first aid kit can be the difference of staying for a few days of fun, or going home in pain.
Second, always bring plenty of water. It is amazing how quickly you can get dehydrated out in the elements. Even when it is mild and doesn’t seem like a danger, it can happen fast. The last thing you want is to hike to the perfect spot, just to realize you don’t have anything to drink… Accept maybe beer;)
Third, know the weather. If you are in the mountains, the weather can change like on a dime. One minute it is nice and sunny, a great day to fish. The next minute, it is a thunder storm raging over your head. Taking a quick look at the forecast for the days you are at your destination is a great way to make the best of your trip.
Finally, pack that bug spray. There is nothing worse than itching your way down the trail to the fishing spot of your dreams. Mosquitos are everywhere, and not only will they cause you some major discomfort but they also carry disease. Do yourself a favor, and don’t forget this essential part of your outdoor adventure.
Getting into the outdoors and doing a bit of fishing is fun for everyone. Just make sure that you are not caught unprepared. The last thing you want is to cut your trip short by forgetting the basics of outdoor adventures.
